LCS Foundation Update
Great is Thy Faithfulness!
Thank you so much to you who generously made a donation to LCS since the Pilgrim Challenge was announced in October (2008). In addition to the mortgage gift, 170 alumni, alumni parents and others gave over $806,000 towards the Pilgrim Challenge, Tuition Scholarships and Grants, and other needs of the school. An additional $47,000 of gifts was pledged over the next few years.
The Pilgrim Challenge was launched when we received the exciting news of a donor stepping forward and retiring our mortgage by the end of the year. However, the dramatic change in the economy has greatly impacted each of us, including the 
donor. Yet, almost unbelievably, despite drastic drops in the market, we received a gift in December, valued just over $400,000, to pay down the mortgage. The generosity of this gift in these difficult economic times is such a blessing and encouragement to us. While we are hopeful that the economy will recover and enable the gracious donor to retire the remaining balance of the mortgage, we are reminded that our hope is in God, not in man.
Our school and many of our school families are challenged by the current economic conditions. Many families are making hard decisions about returning to LCS in the fall because of changes in their personal finances over the last year. Yet, as we face uncertain times, the need to reduce our debt as we go into the 2009-2010 school year remains. And, the need to assist families with their tuition, through scholarships and grants has greatly increased.
Please continue to pray with us that God will continue raise up His people to, by faith, make a sacrificial contribution to LCS. What a statement to the Lansing community to see God provide, regardless of dreary headlines in the news.
We appreciate the legacy of our alumni and alumni parents. That you for all that you have done and all that you will continue to do, as we move forward for God's glory at Lansing Christian School.
